Cloud gardens
Spring announces itself around here with wind and abrupt changes in the weather. This brings with it fewer frosts, even some days where it's positively warm (by our winter standards). We've written our letter to 'The Times' announcing the first blow fly of summer (cuckoos are a bit scarce around here). Of course with rain and warmth, the lawn starts to grow and after four months off, I'm back mowing.

This spring I've also started moving again, traveling to Sydney at least once a week, so I'm spending more time in the car looking at the landscape. Even at the risk of being late, I've stopped to take some photographs. The road to Goulburn is bordered by bouncing spring lambs, literally thousands of them. Along with the attendant crows and occasional carcasses left by wild dogs (and those wet cold nights of 'sheep graziers alert').
Foggy mornings and pale blossom Japanese print? No, patterns on bathroom window Pear blossom stems in the heavy glass vase Dandelion clocks
Spiders are on the move, pear tree budding, rain drops Yellow tulips come out first, then the others Saturated colour inside the tulip The view out my bedroom window to the road has new shapes in it.

At home, we've almost finished our renovations, gaining a new bathroom/laundry and a bedroom 'away from parents' for Kate (who of course is now planning on next year in Finland as an exchange student). The guests will appreciate it. The house smells of chemicals, satin floor finish. Joe the floor sander said the number of blow flies inside is because they love the smell. It just gives me a headache.
