Sad days. Warm autumn weather and cold frosty nights killed off dozens of the fish, the perch who feed down the bottom of the pond, and the goldfish who graze the top. I made it worse by worrying about lack of oxygen in the water, and stirred up the temperature levels by using the pump. I stopped pumping and they stopped floating belly up. An elegant grey egret hung around for a few days and cleaned up a lot of the sick ones, leaving just their heads in the shallows.
